The Maiduguri Airport is located in Maiduguri. It started full operations in the early 1980s as a result of the need for Airports in the North Eastern part of the country. In 1987, the terminal building and other facilities were reconstructed and modernised to meet international aviation standards. It was shut down for two years as a result of persistent Boko Haram attacks, but in 2015 the Maiduguri International Airport was again set to come alive following the Federal Government’s approval for its re-opening.
